Function to update properties for multiple CIs at the same time.
First step is to select which CIs in CI List by Type that shall be updated. Use search and filter function to find the CIs. Enable checkboxes leftmost on rows for those CI. Above list there is a checkbox to enable/disable checkboxes for all CIs that are currently visible (Note: Only checkboxes for CIs on the currently displayed page are enabled/disabled, not all included in the view).
When checkboxes for chosen CIs are enabled, click link Mass update above the list. In popup form there is a list containing all CI properties that could be changed for the set of selected CIs. This means if there is at least one CI selected of a specific CI Type, the unique properties for this type is included in the property list.
For each selected property there is a dropdown where you can select Change or Empty (for mandatory properties Empty is not available).
If you select Change a new field is shown where you input/select a new value for the property.
If you select Empty the old value will be removed.
New value will be saved for all selected CIs having respective property when you click Update.
If you want to update more CI’s after doing one multi update then you have to either unmark, exit CMDB or refresh (F5) otherwise the CI’s that has been updated before will get an update again.
Note: The multi update does not check if CI is currently opened by other agent. All selected properties will be overwritten for all chosen CIs.
Furthermore inserted property values are not checked for plausibility or allowance.
Use the function with carefulness and try to update CIs during time when system activity is low.
