Departments

Configurations > CMDB Management > Department.

Departments are a way of grouping items. An Item can only reference a single Department

It holds CI based on departmental organization. CI can be a member of certain department, but is not obligatory.

The table shows all Departments existing in database.

Just above the table is button Add Department and by clicking that you can create new department. The opened form offers possibility of defining department Name (required field) and Description.

This table will also be used for editing or deleting existing Department. There are no standard departments in CMDB, all departments are custom defined and could be edited and deleted.

Department name is unique, so you cannot add another departments with the same name.

Searching, sorting, filtering and paging functions are similar to other lists in CMDB, see section General User Interface.
