Roles and Permissions

NSP has different types of users including Administrators, Agents and End Users. All of these users have different tasks to perform, and then have been assigned different access permissions based on roles. The resulting permission for a user is a merge of permissions based on all the roles the user is added to, and all roles assigned to groups user is a member of. If a permission is assigned to at least one of those roles, this permission will be assigned to the user.

This module facilitates you to define and assign permissions to different roles. Some parts of the Permission management for roles are moved to User & Permission Management. Read more about this new functionality here.

To access Roles & Permissions page, go to Configurations > Manage > Roles & Permissions:

Role Management

This form contains a list of existing roles. Roles with lower permission level than the logged in user’s Role level are displayed in the list. For example, if administrator is logged in, he is able to see the roles related to End User and Agent levels.

Each row in the list includes Role Name and Actions buttons:

PermissionsButton Permissions is used to assign permissions to the users assigned to that role. See Role Permissions.

Note that permission cannot be set for the SuperAdmin role. Users assigned to this role have always fully system permissions that cannot be restricted.

Search, sort, filter, paging, print and export functionality is similar to other lists in NSP, see section General User Interface.
