In Nilex Network Scanning, computers and other network units are found and added by searching the network. Start by setting scan method. Choose the menu Network Units > Scan Network For Units or press Ctrl + w. The following dialog is shown:
There are three methods of scanning:
•All network – Searches entire network for domains, workgroups or Novell Directories.
•Domain or workgroup – Define domain or workgroup to scan for all units that it contains.
•Range of addresses – All IP-addresses in the range are scanned.
The alternative Scan network for non-computers means other network unit besides computers should be included in the search result. These units, such as printers, routers, thin clients, cannot have agents installed but they can be added as custom units.
Auto install new means that all new units found will automatically get agents installed.
Auto reinstall not connected means that registered units with red status – which were connected with the agent at some point of time but are right now disconnected – automatically will receive agent reinstall.
When all settings for scan have been made, click on Next to begin scanning of network.
When scan is completed, a new dialog with search result is shown. From that dialog, agent installations are managed.
